ABOUT US

Brutons the Bakers was established in Cardiff in 1898, by Harry Windsor Bruton. In 1946 the bakery was moved to it's present location in Grangetown.

The bakery saw four generations of the ‘Bruton’ family at the helm before retirement in 2002 which saw the ‘Best’ family taking over the business; members of the ‘Best’ family had previously been working for Brutons for over 20 years. The company is solely managed by the members of the ‘Best’ family and continues to be run as an independent family business.

Brutons Bread

"Three quarters of the way along Holmesdale Street was Brutons Bakers. Olive Bruton wore her hair in the style of flapper girls of the 20s. Queues formed outside this shop at 6.45am in the morning and by the time the shop opened at 8am the queue would be about 50 yards long. The shop had sold out by 10am."
